The end is nigh my friends and I have to admit that I’m all a giddy with excitement. This has got to be the first time in my TV viewing history that I have EVER looked forward to seeing a show that I love come to an end. In order to prepare for the Season 6 premiere of “Lost” I thought it only appropriate to discuss some of the questions I would like answered before the big finale. Please feel free to add your questions to the comments section below or even your theories on possible answers to these questions.
I’ll start off with the question I have had since the first episode. What exactly is the Smoke Monster? We have been told that it is the security system for the island. But how does it operate and why does it have a different reaction to individuals (i.e. sparing Locke’s life and killing Mr. Eko)?
What is the significance of the infamous numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42?
How is baby Aaron tied to the island and is it a good or evil link?
What about Walt? There is too much mystery around this boy and his abilities for there not to be any further explanation. Yet so far there has been no indication that he is scheduled to appear in the last season.
Why was Hurley in the mental hospital the first time around? And what was Libby doing there as well?
What is the deal with Richard? Why hasn’t he aged over the past several decades and how did he get to the island…via Blackrock? More importantly, how can a girl get lashes like his, so thick and lush, I’d never have to wear eyeliner or mascara again.
What happened to Claire? If she is not dead, as the producers claim, then where in the hell is she and why is she walking around the island with her supposedly dead father?
Which leads us to the next question, is Christian dead?
Why can’t the women on the island stay pregnant and why does it always result in death?
What’s up with all the damn whispering on the island?
What happened to the statue? At the end of last season Ben told Sun that all that remained of the statue was a foot by the time he had arrived at the island in 1973.
Who has taken possession of Locke’s body? Presumably it is the man on the island that was seen conversating with Jacob at the beginning of the last episode “The Incident.”
Who made up all of “the rules” and why do they exist?

Who made up all of “the rules” and why do they exist?
- Only the leader can request an audience with Jacob.
- There can be only one leader on the island at a time.
- Widmore apparently changed “the rules” when he killed Ben’s daughter.
- Widmore’s leaving the island on a regular basis and having a child with an outsider was also deemed against “the rules.”
- According to Faraday “the rules” did not apply to Desmond.
- Whoever is in control of Locke’s body found a loophole to “the rules” when he had Ben kill Jacob.
Why did Jacob visit the Oceanic 6 off of the island? And did he visit any of the other survivors?
Last but not least, will time be reset by setting off the nuke, if so by how far? Or is everyone pretty much doomed?

I just read this and have to wonder if this show and Days of Our Lives have the same writers.
I'm certain you aren't going to have all those questions answered this season. Sorry.
x - I love all the insight from a chick that has never watched a single episode. Maybe next year they can create a “Lost” spinoff and combine it with some celeb-reality crap for people like you that enjoy their TV viewing a little less complex. How about Ray J stranded on an island with a gaggle of whores the first girl not afraid to get her weave wet wins!!
hahahaha - best response ever.
ok the only thing i have a little explanation for is the infamous numbers. my feeling is that this whole thing is on a loop. they keep doing it over and over again. when Hurley played the numbers it was only because they were burned in his memory from being on the island before.
RayJ's show has great intellectual value. As does Jersey Shore.
So, shut your filthy mouth.
P.S. My TV's bigger than yours.
foxy - So do you think that Leonard was a figment of Hurley's imagination? He was in the crazy house after all when he first heard them.
yes
Hi, I'm Kerrie Doane's brother-in-law and she sent me a link to this post. Spend an hour or two on lostpedia.com You'll have your answers, but you'll also have about 1000 more questions. Namaste.
Never seen the show, but how long can these people be stuck on the island without dying? and how many things can go down on that island? I should probably give it a shot. Most people I know like the show.
wait, is leonard the guy in the slippers? was he the same nut in the loony bin that kept repeating those numbers? maybe the guy that kept saying the numbers was a ghost!
Joe(y)-i've been to lostpedia and still no answers to most of these questions just lots of interesting theories.
x-so why aren't u loving this show? i remember u rushing home from school to watch "days".
tv buff-it is a rather large island...and there is fruit and animals to eat. so come on, why couldn't they survive?
"We want Walt, we want Walt!"
foxy - But that wouldn't explain Sam Toomey - the guy that Leonard said he got the numbers from. Hurley went to Australia to track Sam down and found his wife, I don't think she was a figment of his imagination.
Joe(y) - A grip of theories but no actual answers. I'm sure we'll get a lot of them starting Tuesday, probably not all of them though.
ms. me - No Leonard is not the guy in slippers, that was Dave. Dave was confirmed to be a figment of Hurley's imagination.
Unless you've seen it on the show, it's not an answer, it's just a theory, which means it's NOT an answer.
EqiusBuffy, I hope these questions are answered, too, so I can finally stop theorizing with the rest of America.
LOL....Some of these are hard. I hope these help or at least give you something to think about.
1. The smoke monster has something to do with the pocket of energy that is so unique to the island. Yet, I have no idea how it operates and and how it tell's who to spare and who to kill.
2. The numbers, 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42 are the numbers that were stamped onto the hatch when it was being built. It's like a serial number.
3. I'm not sure how Aaron is tied to the island. But there is definitely a tie. And I think that there is a tie between Jack, his dad, Claire, Aaron, and Richard. I think Richard is a lost long ancestor of some type. But I kind of think it's an evil link with Aaron otherwise why would Claire tell Kate not to bring him back???
4.I think Hurley was in the mental hospital the first time because of an eating disorder. Not sure about Libby though.
5. Richard, I think, is the captain of the Blackrock. I think he the true leader of The Others. There is more to him than what we are being told. If you remember, at the end of season 5 in the last episode, Jacob and the other guy were sitting on the beach waiting for the Blackrock to arrive. I would LOVE to have his eyelash's
6. I don't think the island is done with Claire. And I don't think Christian is dead either. I think the island brought him back to life because it needed him.
7. See above.
8. I don't know why the women can't stay pregnant and why they always die. I think it has something to do with all the pocket of energy that was hit when they were drilling. Because ever since then, the only children on the island have been brought there or the mother was pregnant before hand.
9. I think the whispering came from those who are time traveling. Like when Sawyer and Locke and Juliette, etc where traveling in time and were talking, the passengers could hear them and it sounded like whispering. Because we did see how Sawyer came across Claire giving birth when he was time traveling.
10. The statue has me boggled as well. It could have blown up when they detonated the hydrogen bomb...but who know's??? I'm hoping we find that out next season.
10. Easy...the guy who wanted to kill Jacob possessed Locke's body.
11. I'm not sure about the rule's. But I think they're being made up by Ben and whoever else as they go.
12. I think Jacob visited the Oceanic 6 because I think he knew they would be the one's that would come to the island and the one's that would come back. He also visited Sawyer when he was a kid after his parent's died. I think he found something "special" in all of them.
13. I don't think the nuke is going to work like they think. I think that those who came to the island, such as the Oceanic 6, Ben, and Widmore, etc....were supposed to be there for a reason.
ms.me, you're right i did run home to watch Days. when i was 8 YEARS OLD.
x-whatevs....i've remember you watching it in i was in high school which would be your college years!
Equis: Why the hostility against trashy tv? And your Ray Spin-Off sounds like a winner to me. I would watch that.
ms.me, yeah but hopefully i wasn't running home to watch it during those years. just speeding home and running red lights.
Well I assent to but I contemplate the post should secure more info then it has.
